Task 2 - Optical Illusion (Basic Digital Skills)

Task 2 - Optical Illusion

Optical Illusion - an experience of seeming to see something that does not exist or that is other than it appears

We were required to analyze and do a little research on the works of Bridget Riley an optical illusionist. The use of lines and shapes to produce optical illusion. Using this as base concept we were required to using any vector tools to create and explore the options.

These are a few examples of optical illusion

Based on those examples I did a few sketch to try and experiment with lines, shapes, and space

Using lines to create a 3-D effect on type

Using lines to create a perspective view, making Cube out of lines

Using the space to create 2 picture in 1 image

Picture within a picture

The Final Design

In the end I chose the picture within a picture sketch and finalize the design

Using Photoshop I eliminated the white backgrounds and create a new JPEG image

Using Image Trace in Illustrator the image is turned into a vector based image

Final Design

This is the final design of the illusion, there is a picture within the pattern. The image is a Scorpion behind the patterns,

With the alternating black and white pattern it makes it hard to see
