Task 1 - The Sixth Sense (Basic Digital Skills)

Task 1 - The Sixth Sense

Basic Digital Skills
The Sixth Sense

Students are required to gather sounds of their environment, such as apartment, studio, and canteen. These sound should be listened to, and using digital tools images should be produced that describe the sound that you have recorded. Think about using lines and colours but avoid using recognizable shapes and images. Photo manipulation and illustration software would be good tools.

The sound that I have recorded in from the canteen of my college during lunch break. It contains many people conversing with each other and sounds or plates, tables and chair being pulled all around as I am at the center.

The artwork that I created from the sound clip I have gathered.

For the background, I used purple and orange colour as it was influenced by same colours used on the walls of the canteen in my college. As for the two sides of the abstract is mainly because of conversation, conversation cannot happen with only one party there must be at least two or more party to held a conversation the two sides are for that purpose.

The notes are the sounds from the clip, the noise from the multiple conversation from the people in the canteen. Different notes means different noise level as some are loud and some are softer than the others.

The random placing of the notes confers the random direction of the sounds as sound travels everywhere, the sound waves travels in every direction and the note random placing depicts that.
